Gotta stay on my rigorous(?) schedule of a journal per thousand views. Just a short note about a concern I mentioned in my last journal, and this regards trolling. Let me say that I am a firm believer in freedom of speech and of the press. However, some of the vitriol that gets spread around dA is sort of breathtaking. I follow one professional artist that finally had enough of the unwarranted criticism being hurled his way and just dropped off dA for a period of time. This is truly dA's loss.
While I believe there is an important place in the art world for thoughtful criticism, I don't believe there is room for this type of nonsense which is designed, not to help an artist improve, but to really wound him or her.
dA has rules for art content and has no problem pulling the plug on someone who violates these rules. Does dA also have rules about crossing the line when it comes to comments? If not, these rules should be developed; if so, these rules should be enforced.
Thoughts?
