Couple of dA milestones for me: posted my 500th deviation and got another thousand page views which, for me, now happens about twice a year. Thanks to all who have dropped by and who Watch. Had kind of dry spell with my camera for the past six months or so. Not entirely sure what that was about, but I'm picking it up more and getting out. I know that part of the drought comes from not knowing what to shoot. As my gallery shows I love flowers and nature but, after a while taking flower shots get to be a bit mechanical, not so much art as process. Ironically dA has sort of contributed to my lack of activity. I'll think of something to shoot and remember that I've seen that type of image many times on dA and think, why bother, it's already been done. Actually talking with my brother has helped get my photographic juices flowing again. He's in several camera clubs and each provides tons of information on various techniques and also issues challenges about images to try and shoot. The other day he and I were out on a beach in Maine with our cameras, he with his Canon and me with my Nikon, and he was telling be about advice his club got from an excellent nature photographer about how to shoot birds in flight. So we spent a while just practicing getting shots of seagulls. Lots of fun. I didn't take anything that was worth posting but had a really good time doing it.
